Final assignment: May 6-May May 14, 2020
Hey, kiddos! You've reached your final assignment for the year, and your last Science assignment in middle school! You're about to be high schoolers! It is due NEXT Thursday, May 14th. Please email it to me at [email protected].
You've been doing an awesome job with the lesson quizzes and learning about the different agents of erosion, weathering, and deposition. However, this assignment is going to be a bit different.
For your last assignment, I want you to reflect back on your time as a student both in the classroom and at home for the last nine weeks. What are some things you like and miss about learning in a traditional classroom setting? What are some things you like about distance learning? What are some things you dislike about learning in a classroom and what are some things you dislike about distance learning? Think about some things that you would do differently. If we had no choice but to move to distance learning, what are some things you would change or do differently? In your perfect education world, would you combine learning in a classroom and distance learning? If so, what would it look like? Lastly, what will you remember most about this unprecedented time? Use these questions as a guiding tool to write a 300 word essay about what has likely been your most bizarre year of education yet! I can't wait to read them!
That's it! I hope you all are well. I hope your family and loved ones are well. And I hope you all continue to stay healthy through all of the madness!
Week 4: April 27-April 30, 2020
Good afternoon, kiddos! Grades for last weeks assignment have been posted! Please let me know if you turned in "Wave Erosion" but don't see a grade for it on Wengage.
You guys are still doing great! It seems as though some of you are rushing through your work though! Don't forget to read though the textbook first. You can underline, highlight, circle-whatever helps you best-in your textbook anything that you think is important or will help you with the assignment. Read the questions beforehand and look for them while you're reading. Also, don't forget, if you have questions or you need help with some of the questions on the assignment, I'm available for a Zoom conference Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11:30 am and Wednesdays from 6-7 pm. Just let me know when you'd like to have a conference to ask questions! I'm here to help!
For this weeks lesson you will be reading about wind erosion! Remember when we were looking at those pictures on National Geographic and we saw the tree with two perfect circles in it and the rock formation with the middle completely gone?! Those were likely due to wind erosion! Read pages 344-347 of your textbook. The link is here. When you've finished, the worksheet can be found here.
One more thing I'd like to mention. Please, please, PLEASE if you're able to, email your answers to the worksheet to me. I have over 125 people in our Remind class so messages seem to get lost very easily. I've tried to develop a system for making sure assignments that are sent to me on Remind don't get lost, but I don't know that it's working out so well. Email is much easier to organize and keep track of. Now, if Remind is the ONLY way you can get assignments to me, go ahead and send them to me that way, but if at all possible, email them. My email is [email protected].
Have a great week! Let me know if you have any questions!
Week 3: April 20-April 23, 20202
No video this week.
You guys are still rockin' it! I'm so proud of how you all are embracing this online learning and doing so well with it! Keep it up!
For this week's lesson you will be reading about wave erosion. It's similar to water erosion, but has a few things that are formed specifically as a result of waves. The reading includes pages 340-343 of your textbook and are linked here in case you don't have it. After you finish reading, you can find your assignment for the week here. It will be due this Friday, April 24th at 11:59 pm. Please send it to my email.
The winner for last week's joke was...........Daniell! You can tell if a tree is a dogwood tree "by its bark!" Again, I had a lot of people answer correctly but Daniell responded first!
Have a great week and let me know if you have any questions!
Week 2: April 13-April 16, 2020
Here's this week's video!

For this week's lesson you all will be reading pages 334-339 of your textbook. I hope you all were able to make your way up to the school to pick up your belongings, including your textbook! However, if you weren't, the reading is linked here. After you finish reading, your assignment for the week can be found here. This week it won't be due until Friday, April 17th at 11:59 pm. I think I'm going to keep the due dates on Fridays from this point forward. Please send it to my email. There shouldn't be any more issues with email this week.
Keep sending me your erosion pictures! It will be difficult to take pictures of glacial erosion this week, but send me any evidence of any kind of erosion you notice!
Last, but not least, last week's joke of the week winner was............ Baylee! The correct answer to "Why can't you trust atoms?" is "because they make up everything!" Good job, Baylee! I had lots of correct answers come in, but Baylee messaged first!
Be sure to send me your answers to this week's joke ASAP!
See you all next week and let me know if you have any questions!
Week 1: April 6-April 9, 2020
We're finally here! It feels like it's been forever! To get started, watch this video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m74df80fVo
For this week's lesson you all are going to be reading pages 324-333 of your textbook. In case your textbook is still at the school (which, most of them probably are), I've linked those pages here. By the way, be sure to check the middle school's facebook page to see when you can go to the school to get the stuff from your locker. There are certain days and times for you to go up there based on your last name. They've outlined the days and times and the process for picking up your things.
Anyway, after you finish the reading your first assignment can be found here. Remember, it is due Thursday, April 9th by 11:59 pm. You can attach it as a word document and email it to me or take a picture of it and email it to me. My email is listed under the "Info" page.
Enrichment and additional information about water as an erosion agent can be found under the "Enrichment" page.
Don't forget, if you're having trouble or don't understand something, you can message me on Remind, email me, or let me know that you would like to setup a video conference via Zoom during my office hours.
Also, remember to email me your erosion pictures! I'll put together a slide show of everyone's water erosion pictures and post it next week!
Lastly, I'll post the winner to this week's joke next week!
I miss you all, I hope you and your families are doing well, and let's rock this!
